Autonomy Test Engineer

Your primary mission is to rigorously test the FoxBot product, with a specific focus on autonomy. This is a significant opportunity to have an impact from day 1.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the autonomy team to verify system capabilities against product requirements and performance benchmarks.
  • Identify, design, and execute both real and simulated test suites.
  • Automate simulation test execution and reporting.
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders across the company.
  • Burn down reported issues from the field, analyze logs and identify root causes.
  • Investigate, debug, and troubleshoot issues related to product performance.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to establish permanent corrective actions across hardware and software.

What you’ll need: 

  • Demonstrated ability to test complex systems
  • Experience with general purpose programming environments, languages and scripting systems, Linux, git 
  • BS / MS in computer science, robotics, engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Fluent in  C++ and Python
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing

Firmware Engineer

As a Firmware Engineer at Fox Robotics, you will contribute  to the design of embedded software features and functionality to develop advanced robotic vehicle platforms.  You will take an active role in cross-functional workflows to deliver a robust, high quality vehicle. You will work closely with both hardware, software, and system integration  teams to design a performant and safe platform. Some travel is required (< 20%).

What you’ll do:

  • Architecture, design, and implementation of a distributed system containing multiple motor controllers, PLCs, and other embedded devices.
  • Collaboration with other engineering teams to determine requirements and interfaces.
  • Safety and reliability analysis and design of firmware systems.
  • Ensuring a consistently high level of quality for easy and reliable operation.

  • 4+ years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong object-oriented programming background (Python or C heavily preferred).
  • Proven PLC programming experience.
  • Experience programming motor controllers.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with CANopen, TCP/UDP, and other communication protocols.

Product Director

  • Understanding of execution methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc) and the ability to tailor them based on program needs
  • Knowledge of 3D and  2D LIDARs and Sensors.

Production Control Manager

Robot Assembly Technician

Senior Software Engineer, Applications

Want to dive into all things web development and robots? This is the team! We build applications that control robots, display what they see in WebGL, and render the large amounts of data they produce into real time graphs.

What you’ll do:

  • Take high fidelity designs, align them to our component library, and evaluate them against functional requirements. 
  • Take tasks as they are assigned and designed, and through discovery, implement the solution that's needed.
  • Build out those solutions while collaborating with cross functional teams, and keeping your team unblocked by completing the work in parallel. 
  • Harden the functionality and quality of the solution via unit tests and UI tests. 
  • Keep the team moving forward with the latest and greatest Typescript has to offer.

What you’ll need: 

  • 5+ years of industry experience developing production software in Typescript

As a Motion Planning Software Engineer, you will develop navigation and perception capabilities on an autonomous forklift as part of our world-class autonomy team. You will adapt modern research to solve challenging problems in robotics with a key attention to performance and reliability. You will write code in a combination of Python and C++ and contribute to a scalable and robust code base.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and build one or more key components of a modern, scalable autonomy system
  • Deliver high quality code to ensure systems are robust and reliable
  • Work with multi-modal sensor data (e.g. stereo-depth vision, LiDAR, wheel odometry)
  • Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines as part of a close-knit team
  • Participate in production on-call support rotations

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to be a key author of core software tooling, frameworks, and components in the “middle layer” of the Fox autonomy stack that collectively drive the rapid development and deployment of our state-of-the-art autonomous forklift system.

The mission of the Robot Software team is to design and develop the core robot software infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks that drive the rapid development of the Fox autonomous forklift system, guided by software and testing best practices.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate across the Fox Robotics organization to understand requirements, lead data-driven design, and implement high-quality software that optimizes the interface between the core robot software, other product systems, and humans.
  • Focus on contributing to team responsibilities that include:
    • Middleware infrastructure for the Autonomy system.
    • External interface definitions and interactions that include command and control, visualization, and simulation.
    • Frameworks and tooling to enable software teams to debug, test, and analyze various autonomy algorithms.
    • Creating core software libraries for use across the Fox software organization.
  • Promote best practices and foster a culture that emphasizes software engineering excellence and continuous learning.

What you’ll need: 

  • 5+ years of experience developing automated or robotic systems using modern C++.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems across multiple application environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with software developers and other stakeholders.
  • Fluent in programming Python and Bash languages.
  • Containerization of developer tools and applications using Docker or similar.
  • Experience creating applications and tooling with user experience in mind.
  • Experience defining and integrating software pipelines in professional CI/CD environments, like GitLab CI/CD.

  • Experience with Bazel in a large codebase.
  • Experience with robotics simulation tools.
  • Experience with standard intra/inter-process communication frameworks (eCAL, DDS, etc.).

This Senior Technical Program Manager will interface with forklift OEMs for all aspects of program and project management in integration of Fox autonomy package of controllers, sensors, cameras and LIDARs. You'll develop the overall Program Plan with clear milestones, deliverables, and check points with defined go/no-go success criteria. Work closely with all affected department leaders and employees as required to ensure aligned, cross-functional delivery of outcomes to challenging timing and cost targets. Coordinate product requirements and validation plans adequately cover regulatory and compliance needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor New Program design and release process delivers BOM readiness to support prototype and production level parts meet program timing. 
  • Work with suppliers to lead development and release of components related to an active autonomous system while meeting cost, weight, timing, and performance targets.
  • Work with Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Teams to ensure supplier and launch readiness through successful prototype builds, lessons learned, control plans and work instructions.
  • Work with external Vehicle OEM’s partners and internal Product Management, Commercial, and Engineering teams to develop program  proposals, resource and budget estimates.
  • Assist vehicle team technical leads in maintaining their Jira plan with regard to mechanical, electrical, firmware and systems team.

What you’ll need: 

  • 7+ years of experience in product and program management of highly complex product.
  • Hands on experience using Jira, confluence, smartsheets, PLM and ERP tools.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle with stage gate approach. 
  • Handled multi million dollar projects, with 100+ cross functional team members including HW and SW. 
  • Understanding of V Cycle of product development.
  • Understanding of execution methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc) and the ability to tailor them based on program needs

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize build systems across various software applications.

  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines to take advantage of modern best practices.

What you’ll need: 

  • 6+ years of experience in software related roles with focus on building and maintaining developer tools.
